Movado was founded in Switzerland in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim. Its name, adopted in 1905, means “always in motion” in Esperanto. The brand’s famous Museum Watch, created by artist Nathan George Horwitt in 1947, is recognized for its single dot at 12 o’clock symbolizing the sun at noon. Movado treats the watch dial as an exercise in modern design as much as timekeeping.
